Sustainable Goals for More Sustainable Food
Waste management, water conservation, renewable energy – we aren’t strangers to these words, and neither are you. Sustainability is on everyone’s minds, which has companies looking at their own sustainable practices, as well as those of their food suppliers.
So to help you get a better feel for what we’re doing to lessen our impact on the planet, we’re sharing some of our milestones, environmental goals and plans for achieving those goals.
80% of our product packaging (by weight) was recyclable and/or made from recycled materials.
We reduced the amount of solid waste sent to landfills by 94 tons.

ENVIRONMENTAL GOALS FOR 2020
Reduce 25 million pounds of product packaging. Reduce the following by 10%:
Non-renewable energy use
Solid waste sent to landfills
Greenhouse gas emissions
To help reach these goals, we created our Sustainable Agriculture Policy to ensure all of our suppliers and partners are also using sustainable practices.
Remind Me About Sustainable Food
We’re all pretty clear on what it means generally, but what does it mean specifically?
WHAT IS IT?
Sustainable food is produced in a system that is good for the environment and for people, that’s humane to animals and to food and farm workers, and that supports rural and urban communities. It’s a way of food production that generates abundance while ensuring future generations can do the same.1
WHY DOES IT MATTER?
It protects the environment and helps preserve our earth for generations to come. It also answers the ever-growing patron demand and expectation for transparency and social responsibility.
